It is based on elements of the lion holding a staff which is the coat of arms of Earl of Cadogan's. It also features two red roses, to represent England, and two footballs.
On the evening of 10 March 1905 in an upstairs room at the Rising Sun pub, Chelsea FC was formed. Among the founding directors were millionaire owner Henry Augustus ‘Gus’ Mears, his brother Joseph, their brother-in-law Henry Boyer, publican Alfred Janes and his nephew Edwin, who ran the Rising Sun. Chelsea have won 5 national league titles, 7 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and 4 FA Community Shields, one UEFA Champions League, 2 UEFA Cup Winners' Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Super Cup. In 2013 Chelsea became the only English club and fourth overall to win all 3 major UEFA competitions: the Champions League, the Cup Winners’ Cup and the Europa League.
